Hello. This is my art trapped in tiny circular buttons.

I've been working on this mini side project for a few months already, but thing is, it only existed within my head within that whole time.

I guess I kept on finding excuses not to push through with it just yet. I blame self doubt as culprit! Every time I get close to actually jumping on the LET'S MAKE THINGS HAPPEN pool, there's a little voice inside my head saying

"Really Reese. Who would ever buy your sloppy painting collage work thingamajigums?"

But ah well.

Covering another OPM song, huzzahness! Just a quick one.

I found that it was hard to record a flat track of me singing while playing the guitar cause my mic wasn't picking up either the vocals or the instrumental as well as if I do separate tracks. So don't be puzzled if the guitar parts in the video is out of sync sometimes =))

Quick updateee! Here's a Victorian inspired hat I made for school! (excuse the Hello Kitty pillow)

Some might have wrong connotations of the Victorian era (I had my own false assumptions before I studied Clothing Evolution) so I suggest you read up a bit on it to get why I made an overly explosive flowery hat! :))

I told my mom to ransack my aunt's place and get all the fake flowers she can get her hands on. Then I sewed like cuhrazy. I still haven't attached the fake birds when I took this picture cause THE MIGHTY BOND WAS MISSINGGG! :o

I swear, whoever made Mighty Bond, I am paying serious homage to. :))

And here's the Victorian hat my friend Jamie made. It's what gay Victorian men would've worn back in the day, she said. She made me wear it cause I guess it matched my everything? This only reinforces the "Reese is a leprechaun" theory my friends had formulated when I was wearing this particular outfit of mine :))

About a month ago, Dae and I worked on this paper project thingy together. We didn't really have a specific plan as to what we were gonna do, but we planned to make something out of, well, paper.

Sorry it took us ages! The original mp3 that we recorded was inside a diner booth (while actual diners were dining, YES).

Dae and I had a not so very complicated set up with a mic and a pop filter and a laptop and that was it. We had to bear with a few suspicious looks from the waiters while we were recording in one corner. :))In our track, you could even hear the spoons and forks clanging on the plates - so we figured we had to redo it :)) Good times.

And as Dae explained, we recorded this while I’m here in the Philippines, and while he’s in Korea. Technology is kind of amazing. Hence, DOWNLOAD THISSSS EVERYONE!!!!

I WON PGDA HUHUHU

So I won the highest award for this year's Philippine Graphic Design Awards. A magenta PGDA trophy. No freaking big deal really...

LnsandljashliLJSFLISHEPIFHSEPIFNPSEIHFjhdfoufroufeoruhfer I WOOOOOOONNNNNNNNN WAAAAAHHH!!!!!!(Okay just so you know, as I was typing this out, I caught myself making a face of anguish. I still couldn't believe it)

For those of you who may not know, "The Philippine Graphic Design Awards (PGDA) is the first and only program that celebrates remarkable graphic design pieces created by a Filipino.For 2011, professional and student graphic designers alike are invited to enter works into any of 13 categories for a chance to take home a CMYK Trophy or two."So it says on their website.

Anyway, it is the biggest deal in the world for my thesis, DIY or DIE, to have made it to the top finalists for 2011. I hope y'all remember that still! If not, there's a whole archive in this blog dedicated to that particular life endeavor of mine.

When I found out, I didn't wanna announce it to the blog just yet, in case I jinx anything. But the Adobo People's choice award came out for the special edition Red PGDA trophy at stake (which could be won through number of votes), and I felt that I had to at least try and promote my thesis! Meneer Marcelo won that award by the way, much well deserved (but thank you to every single one of you who liked my entry! It's enough that you got to see and hopefully know more about it through the links I've provided you before)

But yeah, I wanted to wait until the actual awarding night before I posted anything else about PGDA.There were 5 colored CMYK trophies at stake. White represented the merit awards. Cyan and Yellow represented the silver trophy for the student snd professional category respectively. While the Magenta and Black awards represented gold. The top top top prize.

(Disclaimer: They ain't Sev and Tata. hese are my wonderful ever so supportive cousins + best best friends wrapped up in one sushi roll)

It was such a boss thing that I made it to the list of finalists, together with two of my most closest friends in the world (Sev and Tata!!! Hello guys) Prior to the awarding, we didn't know which award we were going to get.

We were all sitting down on the carpeted floor, anxiously awaiting our fate. So when all the white trophies were given out, and still our names hadn't been called, we started fidgeting. (I fidget in my seat when you begin appearing... )

It was either:

A) we were getting colored trophies for sure (either silver or gold)

Or B) they completely forgot about us

And so the night progressed and the happiest of the happy endings had happened. The three of us won a magenta award. The highest award guven this year. Wanna know why?

Cause there were no professional entries awarded gold for 2011. Yes.

As the host said, the student entries were the stars of this year's PGDA. And when our names were called, we were all screaming and writhing with joy as we went up the stage. What a glorious moment.Too bad our design teacher, Parker, already went ahead and wasn't able to witness it all.

NINNYYYYYYY <3 (that's a weird code for sister!)

And here I am writing it all down, flashing back to all the sleepless Red Bull Cobra Sting filled nights (yes I experimented on the effectivity of different energy drinks) of making and designing pages of my thesis. And it was allllll motherfrakjingbones worth it.

As a sidenote, you guys should totally grab a copy of this month's BluPrint magazine!

There you will see my work, as well as other finalists' entries, with respective comments of the judges who, well, judged our pieces and decided on our awards.

Dia De Los Muertos

MY LIFE'S MASTERPIECE #434.
BLINDING COLORS, I GIVE YOU THEM.

This skull I offer to the gods of neon paint and glitter.

So a week ago, I was tapped by Sir Russell Vergara of VGrafiks to paint a skull for this event Orale! (at The Fort Strip) was having for Halloween called Dia De Los Muertos.

Being a huge fan of Mexican imagery and the holiday itself, my bones absolutely jumped at the chance to get to paint a freaking skull. A motherfrakking skull, my dears. I can't.

And I, being born with neon paint in my hands, naturally gravitated to THIS trippy psychedelic kaleidoscopic... THING. Had I had more time, I would've encrusted it with jewels. Wait till I get it back, you guys.

Anyway, the exhibit, I believe, is still up at Orale! Mexican resto at The Fort Strip so please come by to see the other faaamaaazing skulls! For now, here are a few sneak-peek photos whatchamacallit.

Futuristic robotic reminds-me-of-Ghost-in-the-Shell skull by Dan Matutina. Hi neon pink.

I was ultimately amazed by this. The finish makes it look almost ceramic like. It had a real plant growing out of its head. How tastefully conceptual :(( By Meneer Marcelo.

Amazing, I kind of want to eat it cause it look like a cupcake pop. The ornaments also remind me of Runts in a weird sort of way. By Lucky Monkey.

FRIDA KAHLO YARN BRAID WINSSSS!!!

And here is my humble contribution to the exhibit. Okay I don't care if it pales in comparison to the rest (cause it obviously does) but just to have my skull be amongst these amazeballs artists' skulls is INCREDIBLE. So... *snap snap*

The caution skull makes me want to drill things in my head in a good way. SOOOO amazing.

If I could give birth to any other skull that is not mine, THIS WOULD BE IT.

EWWS' EPIC ENTRY OMG it looks like a greedy child plopped two popsicles on a skull and left it outside on a hot summer day and then winter came and BOOM. Omg. I was thisclose to running away with this skull in my hands.

Looking at this skull, you can almost hear it ordering you to get a burrito, stat!

JUMPING OUT AT YOU. I love how it looks like a tattoo on a pirate's arm or something.

I admire the PATIENCE that it took to do this skull. Bow down.

ANDDD MY SKULL IN (almost) all sides HOHO. I am quite colossally proud.
I don't care if I misused the word colossal but it felt right to add it.

MY SINCEREST APOLOGIES FOR THE SEMI HIATUS!!! Yet again!

I've just been amazingly swamped with work for school and otherwise. But it's all good! I have a tonneeee of outfit shots to be posted but I just have to find the time to dump everything online!

My laptop is also currently at the Mac Service Center *shed tear* so that renders me semi incapacitated. (excuses)

ANYWAY, here's a new Reese & Vica song for you, called Portuguese! I told Vica I've always wanted to write a song ENTITLED Portuguese, just because I like that it has a certain ring to it. And so we did. It's mainly about two people coming from two different places (could be literally and figuratively interpreted) and who speak two different languages.

Misinterpreted words, forced implications, and the struggle that exists to understand each other and make sense of what they are both feeling. :)

WHAT IS THIS RESTING ON THE CUTTING BOARD, YOU MIGHT ASK YOURSELF?

Well folks. It's a motherfreakingly amazing copper gemstone in the making.

Meet Dae. He is currently sawing his arm off.

But seriously, he is the craftsman (craftsman lolwut) doing all the tedious handiwork that is required in cutting copper. I made this particular gemstone design out of our paper cutting session (I'll post photos up from that day some other time -_-) and he told me he wanted to make an accessory out of it. The next day, he tells me he's found a copper sheet for it. That following day, I found myself watching him cut triangular shapes with a saw.

It's crazy how this boy has actual tools to cut copper I MEAN SERIOUSLY who wakes up in the morning and goes "Oh hey, I think I wanna cut shapes out of copper today!" - only Dae, I guess :))

And this is what I worked on, while he was sawing his copper sheet so intently.

It's some surprise grid tetris-y typography thing!

Dae was writing a catchphrase of some sort for himself and accidentally spelled Studied as Studid. Smart. He will deny that he ever misspelled this word but BELIEVE ME. I offer you photographic proof. HAHAHAHAHA LOLJKS.

Armor: Egyptian Jewelry Design

My first ever SoFA related wearable homework!!!!

DUN DUN DUN DUNNNN!

BACK VIEW DUN DUN DUN

WHAT IS IT, YOU MIGHT ASK? Well, we were tasked to do an Egyptian inspired accessory for our Clothing Evolution class. I based my jewelry on those collar-like jewelry that Egyptians always wore, in pictograms and papyrus drawings that you might see framed randomly in your school's guidance office or something. Anyway, I digress.

I wanted to concentrate on shapes, actually. The circle is especially very symbolic. Not only does it represent the Sun (which they venerate), the shape also speaks of eternity, fertility, and the feminine power. Supposedly, the shoulder pads are spiked with triangular studs as an allusion to the pyramid; which they deem as another symbolic shape. As it has a stable base, a triangle starts from a square but reaches upwards towards the heavens - a representation of the Egyptians' fascination in the afterlife, and their desire for life to transcend after death. Or something deep like that.

This is also a hanging bone. A fake bone, at that.

It supposedly represents the Egyptians' great skill for preserving the dead. Having developed advancements in their preparation for burial, they made embalming a possibility today, which just fascinates me.

I would've put a real bone inside if I did have bones small enough to fit this tiny bottle, but since I couldn't find any, I had to make a bone. Out of masking tape. Resourcefulness points please!

We're Patternmaking partners and by God, we are horrible at measuring each other's girly bits up. AGHHHH, the struggle.

WHAT I WORE TO MY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL...

In a previous entry way way back, I told you guys that I was applying for this "school" at that time, details of which I chose not to disclose yet, just in case I jinx my application.

BUT NOW I AM BACK TO SCHOOOOOOL AGAIN!

I decided to take a diploma course in School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA) majoring in Fashion Design. !!!! I've always wanted to take some short courses at SoFA ever since I heard of the school opening back in second year, but I never had the time to. And now, it's finally happening!

I guess a part of me is scared to delve into the ~workforce~ without learning all the things that I want to learn just yet. So here I am, jumping into the "pool".

I'm sooooo excited! The classes are great, the environment is really small but creatively stimulating. The people are friendly, the mentors are all noteworthy and exceptionally skilled!

What I wore to the Rock Rizal concert. Kind of grungy-tame in comparison to my usual looks, so I had to add a stack of neon bracelets from Elan Bijoux - these bracelets I dearly refer to as "Higad bracelets" - cause they look like dayglo fuzzy catterpillars that itch like hell! (what is the proper English translation of higad, anyway?

It won't show much in the picture, but the Forever Young shirt is embroidered with (fake) pearls! :D

SO! I have randomly stumbled upon this specific video feature of mine via someone who linked it to me and asking if I've already seen it... For the record - THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I'VE SEEN IT AND HAHAHA nawww! Good times.

I was asked to do a Candy shoot sometime this January of 2011, for a Style Diary feature of their May 2011 issue. After the rather awkward photoshoot (only made awkward because I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO POSE, how painfully obvious it is in this video feature!), I was interviewed for a "What's In Your Bag?" video segment for Candymag.com. I don't think they posted this video up until after a month since my shoot was released, so I completely forgot about the existence of thisssss video!

And now it has come back to haunt me. In a good way, I think!

This is actually a "condensed" version of my bag, already. My real bag has a three different Moleskines (for different purposes) and one doll notebook from Korea for lists. I am quite a notebook-writer. =)) Anyway, I have that, and a ton of junk inside; like missing rings in bag pockets, business cards, sticker labels, etc. etc. etc. Let it be known that I am not the neatest, tidiest person in the world.

ANYWAY, I hope you enjoy watching my awkward self be even more awkward. And no judging of bag contents.

Spools of Lace

THIS BAG EXCITES ME.

It's a rare occasion for me to go all out and dress like a girly-girl from head to toe. From the shiny gold buttons to the salmon and teal scalloped bag, right down to the pink beaded espadrilles that almost never see the light of day - this outfit is surely, toxically brimming with estrogen.

It's kind of a good break from what I usually wear, I think.

My driver did a good job taking photos of me at a vacant lot near my house. I didn't have my sister or Mom around to snap some outfit shots, hence I had to direct my driver to "HALF PRESS!!!" and shout "LANDSCAPE! Now, PORTRAIT!" every now and then.

It's a good thing I have no shame in posing like ~this~ in front of my driver =)) He has seen me in much worse states than this. I can't dare name any more embarrassing moments, but I've endured a lot with him on the sidelines :))

Sick Cycle Carousel

I have always dreamt of having my photo taken on a carousel pony.

MY DAY, IN LETTERS:

A) Broke out of my routine of sleeping at 5am and waking up at noon. I had to wake up early for an (supposedly) 11:00 meeting with Kasey Albano and CSJ (no less) of CreatePH :D

But as it happens, my driver was late and I ended up arriving in front of CreatePH at around 12:15. By that time, you can expect Kasey's car to be already backing out of the driveway. NOOOOOOOO!!!! orz

I only did what any sensible girl would do. I stuck my head out the window in hopes that my face (and my corn bleached hair) would be recognizable enough to get Kasey's attention and stop her car from driving away!

Success! After I profusely apologized for being late, I stopped in front of their door to read a note that says "Hey Reese, sorry we had to go, reach me at CELLPHONE NUMBER lalalala". They were really about to head out already. (I'M SORRYYYYY FOR BEING LATE, grovel grovel)

I ended up making both Kasey and CSJ a bit late for their own meetings, but at least we've had our own quick, productive discussion! They're cooking up a wonderful book project and I had been fortunate enough to be asked to help them out a bit. YAY FOR OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE ART WITH ACTUAL DEADLINES =))

B) Since I was horribly late, the meeting had to end within about 10 or 15 minutes into our discussion. I might have told my driver to come pick me up an hour after being dropped off. -_-

With CSJ and Kasey having own meetings to attend to, I had to find the nearest, safest, un-shady place where I could wait, that wasn't Andok's Manok or Reyes Haircutters. And then there was this tea place.

One thing you should know about me is I absolutely hate tea. *GASPS*

It used to be worse as a kid. I couldn't drink iced tea at all (but ever since I tasted Tokyo Tokyo's Red Tea, my tastebuds tried to adapt) Still today, I cannot (repeat: CANNOT) drink C2, more so finish an entire bottle. ANYWAY, I digress.

Naturally, I had no plans of catching on with this latest ~milk tea~ trend. I run 500 thousand miles away when I taste anything leaf-like in my drinks. But alas, I had my laptop, my thesis book, and my 60D with me. I had to be in a safe place. So I was forced to order - ulk - tea.

HUHUHU. But it wasn't so bad. I got egg pudding instead of tapioca pearls (I like egg tarts, so I thought why not?) Didn't get to finish the glass though. I just. I can't.

C) Scheduled lunch at Bonchon with some of my blockmates! Since my driver wasn't going to come anytime soon, I had to take a cab to Bonchon, Eastwood. On my own. (which my Mom never lets me do).

Everything was okay until it started raining SO, SO HARD while I was in the cab. By the time we were in front of Bonchon, there was a huuuuge, deep puddle of mud and water - and a great big distance from the taxi to the Bonchon door.

And yes, I had to step into the puddle (it was impossible to jump over it) with my gold sequined shoes drenched to the sole. Only to find out that we had to leave Bonchon and transfer to Eastwood Mall because my friend had no parking space. So I had to step into the puddle, again! Drench fest on repeat!

D) Finally reached Eastwood Mall in one piece and after a bit of debating, we settled to eat at Teriyaki Boy + get McDo for dessert. Block bondings usually consist of us just eating and talking and screaming at one another - making sure to take pictures when all of this is happening. What can I say, we are quite the simpletons. (HAH)

E) I also had a mini fringe-trimming session right there at McDonalds (we did it in secret, at the farthest corner of McDo) with my friend Rian. Yes of course, I prepared and brought my own pair of scissors.

Which by the way was meant for paper and not hair.

OKAY CAN I BE ALLOWED TO HAVE JUST ONE LOCAL CELEBRITY CRUSH? Just one!
I have a huuuuuuuge crush on Enchong Dee. Bless him. I need to see this boy in real life, I swear it.

The funny thing is I used to not like him at all. I didn’t even like his name. I mean who calls a boy Enchong? Really.

But yes, let it be said that every time I see him on TV, my knees FREEZE, and sometimes I find myself thinking, "I think I could sacrifice being flung towards media's highly critical eye and invade one of those Mexican telenovela remakes” - just so I could be partnered up with him. COME ON, FATES! MAKE IT HAPPEN!

#13 Your opinion about your body and how comfortable you are with it

I have way too much complaints with my body - I think all girls are naturally wired to be this way.

I have eyebags so deep, they look like they’re smuggling goldbars.
I am flat-chested but have an unusually large preggy belly (This is, by no means, an exaggeration. I was in Thailand last year, asking for a swimsuit that would fit me. The saleslady said… “AHH, you are pregnant, huh?”, then points to my fetus-less tummy. Ah, let the good times roll)

That, and I have a huge Aunt bottom, which isn’t flattering in any way because it is weirdly disproportionate to my everything else.

BUT, I am comfortable with my own body. Sometimes when I look at the mirror too hard, I can’t help but see imperfections peek out and spit at me on the face - but I know I am so much more than the stuff I complain about. And I know that people who love and value me couldn’t care less if I have dark brown baskets under my eyes, or a continent for an ass.

And I shouldn’t care, too :)

If you're wondering where in this wonderful world I am in these pictures, I am (well, was) in the beautiful BACC (Bangkok Art & Culture Center (yes I've just come from Thailand for a short vacation~!)

This amaaaaazing graffiti wall runs up 2 spiral floor layers and is simply marvelous. I wanted to roll myself on the wall and catch some of the eye-popping colors with my clothes, but I might risk being called off by security.

I am a huuuuuge sucker for museums, especially contemporary ones with installations so I HAD to go. Of the many times I've been to Thailand, I've never visited BACC before (thanks to Ate Arriane for the tip!) so I'm especially glad to catch the current exhibits there. This particular one is a collection of leather carvings suspended from the ceiling. Just a litttttle bit breahtaking don't you think?

Drama posing mode ON. This time, with the yarn. Werking it at my favorite exhibit in the museum called Golden Ghost. This entire room was filled with nothing but yarn and thread. If that isn't already awesome in itself, the artist hid 6 pure gold necklaces within this ~yarn pool~ and whoever finds them gets to keep them forever and ever for bragging rights.

Oh my heart. Conceptual art makes my pulse race.

Is that STAR ANIS imprinted on the walls?

Mind-blowing threadwork. The drips look like tears, sagging skin, and a beard all at the same time. Amazing amazing amazing patience.

Where else will you find a neon-haired girl fake fierce posing on a bed of yarn and thread like it was as normal as flossing? Only here.

A place where people can leave letters and notes. I left a secret note somewhere there.

I left a note somewhere in this pool! It's kind of like finding a message in a bottle except it's not in a bottle and it doesn't float and this one might never be found, and yeah. It might be nothing like a message in a bottle after all.

Naturally, I spent a good amount of time literally digging through the wasteland in search for real treasure. I knew I HAD to find a necklace. I just had to. I was even getting the artist's signature with the necklace, as if gold wasn't enough of a prize. As if the satisfaction of finding gold in a sea of thread wasn't enough of a prize LASLFKASFA!

As it happens, I didn't find anything.

I GOT MYSELF A UKELELE! Fina-freaking-lly!!!!!! (it's painfully obvious that I just bought it, refer to tag hanging from the fretboard) It's an Eleuke Cigar Box Concert ukelele that Rizza Cabrera (shoutout!!) linked me! It even has a pick-up and everything huhu oh my crikeyballs. Rizza, uke jam soon, I demand it!

HOLDING IT, PLAYING IT, PLUCKING IT! Huzzah!

Naturally I have already gone ahead and wrote a new song with my new (yet to be named) ukelele! It's still fun and upbeat but NOT about boys / a boy for a change. I'm not as shallow a person, I promise!

GREETINGS!

This is what I did for ceramics class today!

We were asked to mold our clay with our eyes closed and I came up with this coral-like... thing. I REFUSE FOR IT TO BE A TREE, OKAY?

Hence, I have dubbed thee... MONSTER CLAW. (see the nails)

I know it looks like some sort of Tree of Life sculpture but I'd like to think it looks more of a real claw in real life. It's definitely a work in progress but I am too proud of my patience on detailing to not post these photos! YAYYY!

AND ONE MORE THING GUYS! This is very awkward but, I have made (ack) an artist page on Facebook. My very own, where I would post my cover songs and original songs!!! HUZZAHNESS!

Hi everyone!! I think you already guessed who I am :) I'm Denice, the little sister of Reese! As you all know, my sister attended the World Youth Day in Madrid so she's away for about 2 and a half weeks now. She'll be back by tomorrow afternoon and I'm already excited! (for the pasalubong :> Nyahaha just kidding)

Anyway, before she left she told me to update her blog and I FAILED to do so :( I'm so sorry because I got too stressed over schoolwork and whenever I had the free time, I just wanted to SLEEP. So I just decided to make a "Welcome Home!" update :)) I didn't know what else to post so I randomly browsed through our photo albums and scanned our photos :)

I hope I didn't disappoint any serious fans of The Beatles! I've always loved this song cause it reminds me of my Dad, who always always sang this song to me (this and Let it Be) when he was still alive.

I'm not the best at guitar playing so I apologize for any slip-ups but I wanted to keep it raw somehow. :)

New Acquisitions

OOH, ANOTHER UPDATE! What a surprise!

We finally got to eat at Bonchon's today (hence the Bonchon wall background), after hearing about it from sooo many people! In theory, I love chicken wings and I'm supposed to go crazy over Bonchon chicken, BUT, since I don't fancy sweet viands and barbecue flavored anything, it was kind of so-so for me. The fad is understandable though!

Anyway, I went mini-shopping today with my cousin and my Mom and sister! Bought a few tops, and four pairs of new shoes! I'm not much of a shoe addict but if I see something I like, I tend to ogle and lust over it until I finally get it. Haha!

I don't wear heels that much (I bet you haven't seen heels in this blog!) but these are too cute to pass up. Agh. I'm crying. I feel so mature (not to mention TALL) when I'm wearing these!

And to the more folky type of footwear. Heeee, I'm smitten!

The ribbon is so poofy, it makes me think about biting it sometimes... K.

TALL, SO TALL. My feet can't even comprehend.

I also had my first session of ceramics class today! It was amazingly fun, and I'm gonna post up a few pictures from the class tomorrow! So excited to make things already! (although I must say, I fail in molding realistic things. OH WELL let's see how it goes!)

Some Relevant News!

I apologize profusely for the long hiatus of sorts! There hasn't been any relevant posts as of late, and I'm reaaaally, really sorry. Nothing and everything's been going on right now (at the same time, if you can imagine that), and this would be an update of sorts, for all of you!

ANYWAY, NEWS NEWS NEWS:

1) I'm going to Spain this August!

I'm gonna go there for the 2011 World Youth Day, so I'll be out for about two weeks or so! I don't know if we'll get internet access over there yet, so if I suddenly vanish from the face of the Earth, you know where to (or where to not) find me :))

I HAVEN'T EVEN PACKED YET. (I absolutely hate packing)

2) I'm applying for a new school at the moment so I finally have something to do! I don't want to tell you where or what I'm gonna study just in case I jinx it, but nothing's final yet. When I know for sure that it's a go, I'm gonna blog about it asap! :) So yeah, that's been keeping me busy lately!

3) ANOTHER THING. I've been doing tons of art "projects" these days, and I'l post a few pictures of the mess that I like making daily. I've been trying to "paint" and "draw" random stuff with the very little skills I have. I hope they're not too hideous for posting :)) But yeah, it feels good to wake up and get paint all over your hands (and knees, and hair. I'm a messy ~artist~)

4) I have a new song in the works! I've written it yesterday, but I haven't figured out how to write the bridge yet, so I'm letting it breathe for awhile. The mood is a bit different from my previous songs (e.g. Trophy Boy and NBSB (No Boyfriend Since Birth) - it's definitely waaaay less cutesy and (hopefully) a bit more mature sounding? I'm really excited to let everyone hear it as soon as I finish it. YUR. Productivity!

5) I just recorded a new cover song (of Bon Iver, no less!) this morning! It's very simple, quite stripped down. I've skipped lunch time cause I was to focused on recording haha! The microphone could almost pick up the grumbling sounds haha! Anyway, I'm posting it up later this evening, so keep checking the blog!

6) I wanna make a thank you post to a few people who have been significantly kind and supportive of my ~endeavors~ and I just really hope I don't forget to post that up eventually. I've gotten some letters and presents from a few readers and I wanna share them with all of you somehow. I just want you to know that it means a whole lot to me!

7) If anyone has covers of my songs Trophy Boy and NBSB (No Boyfriend Since Birth) , please please pleaaaase link them to me! I'd love to hear them! A few people have linked their covers to me via Twitter and I'm so pleased and overwhelmed! Yeah I tried drawing today.

We can forget about how I failed on deciding whether to use thick or thin lines (or whether I should use lines at all). We can also forget about how the ear looks like a crouched fetus.

This is a cropped version, so in my watercolor pad, the shoulders extend till forever. I might add collage-y stuff at the bottom tomorrow if I feel like it, but maybe not. I DON’T KNOW I AM CONFUSED HUHU.

And as expected, after a few days, the oranges are turning into this awful rusty color and the teal streaks are turning greener and greener by the minute. American Dream

I first got into nail polish ever since I watched (and got obsessed with) Parent Trap. That was Grade 4.

I've been painting my nails ever since. (High school didn't allow colored fingernails, of course. But my toes were always sparkling :)))

I first got into nail art when I was in Grade 6. I painstakingly painted yin- yangs, camouflage prints & American flags on my nails with a toothpick. I also painted hair-chopsticks that matched my nails, and my every outfit. I WAS IN GRADE 6 GUYS. Tamang malandi lang!

I decided to redo a simpler version of my Grade 6 American flag nails (sans the stars, YES I did draw stars on my nails before) I love how sparkly they are. I like being blinded by sequins.

COME ON. I have uneven nail lengths =))

On The Radio (oh oh)

We haven't played for a radio station since October, for the NU Rock Awards game-athon for the shortlisted college bands! So we came off a bit rusty, I guess. It's kind of stressful to think about how you cannot make mistakes while you're playing, cause you're being heard live on-air.

I was kind of disappointed by how our last song, Magic turned out. The moment we started playing, it seemed like one of us had a 6th string that turned sharp. Of course, we couldn't stop the broadcast to readjust the tuning and the guitar levels, so we played the whole song semi off-key. I was so bothered by it the whole entire time that I wasn't able to properly play my "guitar solo" during the instrumental part of the bridge. Le sigh. But We've done worse gigs, so here's to sucking it up and doing a better job!

As a reward, we treated ourselves to some authentic Thai dinner after our set. Pad Thai, green beef curry, Thai pandan chicken... AGH I miss Thailand already! :)

Teaser: Hell and High Water

I tagged along to a mini-photoshoot my blockmates had yesterday! My friend Gela (left) texted me at around 12pm to ask if I could come follow them at the studio they've reserved for a few hours. I was literally still on my bed, eating my adobong kangkong & longganisa while it was all happening.

Eventually, her driver came to pick me up and my other friend Tata helped me pick out clothes in a frenzied state. I was unprepared to say the least, but it was quite a fun shoot!

The contrast of our styles is so evident here! Gela is the epitome of prim, proper, and artistahin girl, and I'm... that messy drowned rat on the right. I lent my band hat to Gela, and she's looking like some SNSD / After School member! I was going for a sailor meets pirate kind of thing but I don't know how well it translated. =)) More photos from this shoot to come in the next few days! We're all waiting for James and Tata to upload their shots.

I kinda miss the rainbow hair. Only it's a big effort to maintain + it turns into the ugliest shade of yellow when it fades. NOT. GOOD.

I look like I can't breathe here. Noes :(

Once in a Red Moon

Visited some AMP friends in Ateneo yesterday! Vica and I decided to rehearse at school for this radio show we're playing for on Monday! Catch us play (they have livestream!) on June 21! All the details on their Facebook page.

Anyway, it FELT SOOOO GOOD to be sitting on the benches (a.k.a. long tables) again. I don't think I've quite let go of the fact that I am now a graduate of the school & I don't have the "right" to freely roam the grounds as much as I want to.

And I woke up at 4am just to see the lunar eclipse! As it happens, our house location sucks. You couldn't see the moon from where we were because of all the village houses covering the sky. I had to drive all the way up to the entrance of the village just to take a picture of THIS red moon (which was partly concealed because of the clouds).

Believe me when I sat that this is already the best picture I was able to take from where I was. I couldn't afford to wait for the skies to clear anymore, hence, I drove back home and slept again. =)) At least, it was mission accomplished! Well, sort of.

Back To Kindergarten

I feel like I need a juice box to go with this outfit =))

This might be my favorite outfit of mine in a while. The knitted vest is more vibrant in real life!

The "dress" is some random nightgown I cut up. Class act.

Ate quick lunch with my family at the SM branch beside Tiendesitas. Outfit shots (c/o my sister, Denice!) was taken right outside SM (hence the cars and the unattractive tarpaulins) =))

I figured that wearing the sequined beanie with the rainbow knitted vest would be overkill, but then again that didn't stop me.

I think it's my first time doing braids this neatly in my life! HURRAH! I just found rubbe rbands from the office and that's what I used to tie my hair so sorry about the absence of fuzzy neon scrunchies.

The back is AMAZING. Props to whoever can knit as intricately as this piece of pure joy. I, for one, never enjoyed knitting or crocheting when I was in Grade School. I found it to be very tedious. Also, the reward for finishing a project (being only the project itself) doesn't feel gratifying at all. All those days / weeks / months of labor on your rocking chair and suffering from carpal tunnel - and all you're getting for it is a pair of mittens? I don't think so.

ORSEM TIME. I had the pleasure of going back to Ateneo and visiting the last day of Orsem 2011 (this is a 3-day event for the Ateneo Freshmen to get introduced to their new school and to get acquainted with their fellow batchmates)

I was asked to be one of the judges for Ateneo's Orsem Idol, which is exactly what it sounds like. It's a dance and singing competition for the freshmen who were gutsy enough to join and present themselves onstage in front of the whole new judgmental crowd. HAHA. Looking back at my own Orsem experience (which has been four years ago GASPPP), I remember wanting to volunteer myself for Orsem Idol's Singing competiton. But I also remember being so terribly shy of performing on stage. I also wasn't known as a singer (outside my family) cause I never sang alone in school. I'd join the mass choir and Ecosong fests as part of a group, but I never sang solo cause I was self-conscious.

ANYWAY, as I was saying before I got completely side-tracked by my own self, I wanted to join Orsem Idol with plans of singing Wanted: Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi =)) WOAHDURR! I was quite ambitious. Anyway, I never gathered the guts to audition during my year. But last night, all I wanted was to jump on that stage and steal the microphone and join that Orsem Idol. :)) It seemed fun and empowering to be up on that stage in front of your stranger batchmates.

The crowd was great, they were supportive of the contestants (three lovely girls) - yet of course as judges we had to be a bit of party-poopers and give useful, constructive criticism. It was kind of nerve-wracking to judge, truthfully. While you're holding the mic, you feel like you have to condense every little thing you have to say within a few sentences. You have to package your words carefully, making sure you don't beat around the bush, say what you think while still being encouraging. I immensely enjoyed the opportunity to judge this year's Orsem Idol (though I feel that I am not an authority whatsoever of music to do so), and I'd like to say thank you to the organizers of the Orsem and to the people who made it possible!

ANYWAY, the point of that long entry is this: I WISH I JOINED THE ORSEM IDOL 2007. =))

To most of my blog readers, it's no secret that I am semi infatuated with K-Pop, and a lot of my looks I could say are subconsciously inspired by 2NE1 fashion. I love those girls to bits, omg.

So naturally, I watched them live in Manila last Saturday!

I figured I wanted to have some 2NE1 references in my outfit without looking too garish, as it is a concert in Araneta and I would undoubtedly jump around and scream like mad and clutch the arms of my seat mates in excitement, and if I wear jewelry that's too heavy or rings that are too chunky, bits and bobs might get strewn across the concert hall :)) Fans wouldn't like that :)) I also wanted something comfortable and relatively loose, cause I don't like being sweaty in clothes that stick to your body.

So, I went for printed leggings (a salute to Gong Minzy and the Street Version music video of Fire) + Jeremy Scott winged sneakers. I couldn't find my mushroom necklace (worn here) as a direct reference to CL's lego jewelry so I just wore a similar one I made, which is one of the ghosts of Pacman (Pinky).

I love carrying this circus-themed bag around. It makes exactly enough room for my phones, my wallet, and some breath mints. And maybe some folded bits of paper. Nothing more, nothing less!

The concert was made excruciatingly long because of the opening acts (5 opening acts which had nothing to do with K-Pop) - Of course I enjoyed the performance of The Bloomfields immensely, but Callalily's over the top set was just annoying. The lead singer was making his way through the crowd, all the way until Upper Box. He obviously enjoyed the attention and all the girls chest-grabbing him, so much so that he even took off his Dara top, turned it over, and revealed an I Heart Dara print to cause some sort of ruckus. I don't even know.

But the 2NE1 performance itself was SHORT. 7 songs weren't enough! I would have LOVED to see them perform Try To Follow Me and Don't Stop The Music (but I know they rarely perform these cause they're advert songs). And I realized, Upper A is just a tad too far. I was torn between staring at the screen or staring at the actual tiny 2NE1 girls dancing on-stage =)) We might have gotten VIP if it was a full concert, but paying 8k for 7 songs just was a bit too much I think.

Anyway, it was all good fun! Thanks to my two friends who kept me company, Sev and Anne! (A5, you've been missed!) My Mom and sister watched behind us, as well! It was fun seeing Mom semi-dancing to the songs while taking videos from her iPhone =))

Have you ever felt like being ridden with so much insecurity when you look at all the people around you who are far greater than you? I have.

You always want to do what they're doing, you always want to have what they have, and in the long run you forget about what YOU have. I'm always guilty of this, and it's something I'm not proud of. I am insecure and lazy and self-conscious and I can't help comparing myself to others who have the life that I want for myself.

But you'd always have to catch yourself. Never forget about what you have, what you can do, and what you plan to do with it. Because by being insecure and wallowing in other people's greatness and making yourself feel bad because it of it, you're not making yourself any better. We're responsible for our own actions; responsible for our own lives, therefore we should never forget to take control.

Learn to be humble. Learn to accept where you are in life and be thankful. But learn to never be comfortable with settling. Aim for what you really, really want and defy all odds to do it. Take the world as your inspiration but always remain grounded and true to yourself.

It's never too late (or too early) to start a revolution :)

Korea:Last Update & GOODBYE!

OH NO. It's our last day in Korea :( And this is also my last update as a guest blogger. Yup, this is me, Denice! :)

My sister already arrived last Sunday night and I was also supposed to post this while she was still out but, HEHE I got a little lazy :D

For our last day, we went back to Yeioudo for the flower festival! :)

The cherry blossoms still didn't bloom that day but we found this little cherry blossom that already bloomed a little :)

To cool ourselves off for a while, we stayed at the Princess Cafe in Hongdae! It was so PRINCESS-Y!! Everything looks expensive and they have this policy that we didn't know until we were about to order only one cheesecake.

They said that every person must have at least one drink in the cafe :( UGH. But my mom was so great she convinced the manager that her tummy hurts so that she wouldn't have to order a drink, which by the way is a little overpriced =))

After that we went to Banpo Bridge hoping that we could see the "Moonlight Rainbow Fountain" which is the world's longest bridge fountain. But sadly, THEY ONLY HAD IT DURING SUMMER TIME. I can't even explain what we felt when someone told us that.

Look at my sister, she felt so sad again. :( We just took pictures instead and went home.

We were on our way to the metro. Look at what this kid was doing =)) I don't even know where his parents were.

We were inside a mall here.

This is it, our last night walk crossing that pedestrian lane going to our hotel :(

Oh no, this is my last post as a guest blogger!! :( I'll miss doing this HAHA I really can't believe I was able to post things and really blog about what I felt. Thanks to my sister for giving me this chance to feel what it's like to have your own blog, since I don't have one. I admit that sometimes I get really lazy posting (I'm really sorry) but after that, I get this feeling of accomplishment, HAHAHA! And I actually did something this summer even though it was only for a few days :)

So until next time everyone!! I really enjoyed doing this and I also hope you had fun reading the updates and looking at our pictures and at least you somehow felt like you were traveling with us. :)

HELLO EVERYONE!

It's me again, Reese! And I'm back, hurrah!

I'd like to thank my sister Denice for doing such a great job in religiously updating my blog with our Korea trip photos :) I hope you enjoyed her updates!

ANYWAY, I've no outfit posts to put up as of now, so I'm just gonna show you two Supersampler photos that my good friend Tata Yap took of me and my friends, back when we were in Freshman (was it?) year. LONG TIME. Check my hair, and my lackluster outfits :))

I look majorly different without the bangs, yes? This was taken in Ateneo's Sec Walk, which is now barely recognizable without its staple plastic benches. (They have been replaced by blocks of cement instead...) Anyway, I hope to have fashion related updates for all of you soon!
